El objetivo de este trabajo ha sido plantear el estudio de la Cámara de Bárbara de Braganza durante los años en que ostentaba el título de princesa de Asturias (1729-1746); un periodo de diecisiete años en que tanto ella, como el príncipe heredero, fueron sometidos por parte de los reyes a un aislamiento que derivaría en un verdaderoconfinamiento, a pesar de la elevada posición que ocupaban dentro de la línea sucesoria. La situación de castigo y retraimiento en la que se vieron inmersos durantetanto tiempo permite comprender las dinámicas cortesanas de esos años y el papel desempeñado por el entorno femenino de la princesa. De ahí la necesidad de conocerla composición de la Cámara de la princesa, especialmente la familia de mujeres que ejercían los diferentes oficios. Con esa finalidad se ha tratado de identificar su filiaciónconcreta, con nombres y apellidos, averiguar las familias de las que procedían, calibrar las motivaciones y circunstancias a que debían su nombramiento, analizar la mediación que pudieron establecer entre la Corte y sus linajes, reconocer el papel que pudieron jugar entre sí y con otras personas pertenecientes al resto de las instancias palatinas y a círculos ajenos a palacio, así como determinar su posicionamiento político a través de sus redes familiares y clientelares.

The objective of this work has been to study the Court of Barbara of Braganza during the years when she held the title of Princess of Asturias (1729-1746); a period ofseventeen years in which both she and the Prince were subjected by the monarchs to a level of isolation that would eventually amount to a veritable confinement, despite their elevated position within the line of succession. The situation of punishment and seclusion in which they were immersed for so long allows us to understand the courtdynamics of those years and the role played by the princess’s female entourage. Hence the need to understand the composition of the Princess’s Court, especially the family of women who held the various offices. To this end, I have attempted to identify their specific affiliations, with names and surnames, find out the families from which they came, assess the motivations and circumstances that led to their appointment, analyze the mediation they may have established between the Court and their lineages, recognize the role they may have played among themselves and with other people belonging to the rest of the palace instances and to circles outside the palace, as well as determine their political positioning through their family and clientele networks.
