Resumen de Evidencias arqueológicas de una navegación en época fenícia-púnica en aguas de las Islas Pitiusas

  La navegación en sus diversos aspectos siempre ha estado presente como un tema crucial en el discurso científico tratando tanto de los fenicios y su expansión hacia el occidente como de los cartagineses en sus enfrentamientos con el mundo romano. En el año 2002, la navegación en época fenicia y púnica fue considerada y tratada en detalle en sus diversas facetas en el ámbito de éste encuentro científico. Veinte años más tarde, la presente contribución al actual encuentro pretende dar una visión de conjunto de las evidencias y de las informaciones aportadas por la arqueología marítima/submarina desde esta fecha.En esta revaloración del estado de la cuestión estarán en primer plano los descubrimientos realizados en las aguas que rodean las Islas Pitiusas. Cabe resaltar la importancia que tuvo este archipiélago en los derroteros de la navegación a vela en el Mediterráneo occidental por su posición geoestratégica, por los condicionantes meteomarinos que le envuelve y, por último, por las delimitaciones impuestas por la arquitectura y tecnología naval de cada época para hacer frente a estos condicionantes.

  Navigation in its various aspects has always been present as a crucial topic in scientific discourse, dealing with both the Phoenicians and their expansion towards the west and the Carthaginians in their confrontations with the Roman world. In 2002, navigation in the Phoenician and Punic era was considered and treated in detail in its various facets within the scope of this scientific meeting. Twenty years later, this contribution to the current meeting aims to give an overview of the evidence and information provided by maritime/underwater archeology since this date. In this reassessment of the state of the matter, the main focus will be on the discoveries made in the waters surrounding the Pytiusic Islands. It is worth highlighting the importance that this archipelago had in the ancient sailing routes in the Western Mediterranean due to its geostrategic position, the marine meteorology that surrounds it and, finally, the delimitations imposed by the naval architecture and technology of each era to face these conditions.
