Con ocasión de este Encuentro Internacional regresamos al estudio de la relación de materiales arqueológicos procedentes de las excavaciones realizadas por el XVII marqués de Cerralbo en el interior peninsular, redactada por Juan Cabré entre 1922 y 1926, cuyos fondos fueron ingresados en el Museo Arqueológico Nacional tras la Guerra Civil. Y la tratamos como fuente primaria para conocer las exposiciones arqueológicas que aquel celebró en sus palacios de Madrid y Santa María de Huerta, documentadas desde 1914, poniéndolas en relación con una parte del Fondo Cabré del Instituto de Patrimonio Cultural de España, que constituye el aparato gráfico de dicho Inventario. Queremos así incidir en la necesidad de seguir incorporando a la investigación los inventarios históricos, testimonios gráficos y textuales de primera mano, necesarios para reconstruir la historia de la arqueología, desde sus orígenes hasta bien entrado el siglo XX.

On the occasion of this International Meeting, we return to the study of the inventory of archaeological materials from the excavations carried out by the 17th Marquis of Cerralbo in the inland peninsula, written by Juan Cabré between 1922 and 1926, whose collections were transferred to the Museo Arqueológico Nacional after the Civil War. We treat it as a primary source to understand the archaeological exhibitions he held in his palaces in Madrid and Santa María de Huerta, since 1914, relating it to a part of the Cabré Phototeca of the IPCE, which constitutes the graphic apparatus of this inventory. We want to emphasize the need to continue incorporating historical inventories, firsthand graphic and textual testimonies into research, which are necessary to reconstruct the history of archaeology, from its origins to well into the 20th century.
