The representation of interpersonal relationships in fiction is a challenge for the author of the film script and for the audiovisual translator due to the difficulty of translating pragmatic values in a very restricted environment. In this sense, the aim of this article is to analyze how interpersonal relationships are depicted in Der Passfälscher (2022) through register and im/personalization, and how these representations are translated into Catalan and Spanish. To this end, the scenes have been counted, selecting those with socially symmetrical interpersonal constellations and examining them from a qualitative and contrastive approach. The analysis of the data reveals differences based on the target language and the social role of the participants in the interaction. While Catalan manages to maintain the characterizations activated in German to a greater extent, Spanish reflects interpersonal relations more distant from the original text.
