  ¿Cómo se puede revitalizar el valor cultural y arquitectónico de los tejados de nuestras ciudades? El paisaje de las cubiertas configura uno de los territorios más extensos y de oportunidad sobre la ciudad heredada. A lo largo del siglo XX con el crecimiento de las grandes ciudades y la llegada de nuevos materiales de construcción se intensifica su uso generando nuevos escenarios que pretendían acercar el mundo rural a las ciudades, sin embargo actualmente son espacios desaprovechados de la ciudad contemporánea. Mediante el análisis de tres casos de estudio de Barcelona, la presente comunicación pretende reflexionar sobre las relaciones entre la habitabilidad de la cubierta y el tejido urbano en que se inserta con el objetivo de identificar qué catalizadores fortalecen la cultura de habitar la cubierta en el mediterráneo y propician revitalizar el patrimonio a través de cubiertas vivas: espacios colectivos más naturalizados. La finalidad es iniciar un camino hacia una metodología, analítica y proyectual, para hacer ciudad sobre y desde la ciudad integrando el patrimonio cultural y arquitectónico en la vida cotidiana a través de rehabilitar y rehabitar las cubiertas en armonía con el paisaje urbano y natural de la ciudad como símbolo de identidad y apropiación.

  Can the city’s cultural and architectural heritage be revitalized from the roof? The urban landscape of rooftops is one of the most extensive and unknown territories of the inherited cities. The use of rooftops increased with the growth of the cities and the arrival of new construction materials throughout the 20th century. Rooftops generated new scenarios bringing the natural world closer to the cities. Through comparative analysis of three case studies from Barcelona, this paper aims to reflect on the links between the habitability of the rooftop and the urban fabric in which they are inserted. We also identify the catalysts hat enhance the culture of inhabiting the roof in the Mediterranean and revitalize the heritage through living roofs: more naturalized collective spaces. The aim is to initiate a path towards an analytical and projective methodology to make city on and from the city, integrating cultural and architectural heritage in everyday life through the inhabitation of roofs in harmony with the urban and natural landscape of the city as a symbol of identity and appropriation.
