Resumen de El rescat de varietats natives com a instrument per afrontar el canvi climàtic

  Enfront a l’escenari climàtic que ens depara un futur proper, les varietats natives de cada regió es presentencom una opció més per a la recerca de varietats adaptades a condicions climàtiques adverses (Abos et al., 2016).L’aclimatació d’aquestes varietats a l’entorn edafoclimàtic de cada territori ha despertat l’interès de la ciència en elrescat i la conservació de llavors i plantes natives. Les Illes Balears compten amb un tresor fitogenètic sense límitsdefinits a dia d’avui. L’objectiu d’aquest treball és la recuperació, preservació i identificació de varietats cultivades defruiters de les Illes Balears. Aquest repte, ens permetrà disposar d’un ampli ventall de variabilitat genètica de cara adesafiar el nou context climàtic. Com a resultat d’aquest projecte, llançat des de la dècada dels 90, s’han instaurat 13col·leccions varietals ex-situ de fruiters que inclouen més de 260 cultivars corresponents a ametler, figuera, vinya,garrover, cirerer, pomera, prunera, taronger, perera, albercoquer, melicotoner, mandarí i llimonera. Així mateix, s’harealitzat la descripció primària de les accessions de cada una de les espècies.

  Considering the climate scenario awaiting for us in the near future, native varieties of each region arepresented as an interesting option for the search for varieties able to adapt to adverse climatic conditions (Abos et al.,2016; Sacristán et al., 2021). The acclimatization of these varieties to the edaphoclimatic environment of each territoryhas awakened the interest of science for the recovering and conservation of seeds and native plants. At this moment, theBalearic Islands have a phytogenetic treasure with no defined limits. Thus, the aim of this work is based on the recoverypreservation and identification of native fruit tree varieties from the Balearic Islands.This challenge will allow to havea wide range of genetic variability in order to address the new climate context. As a result of this project, launched inthe 90s, thirteen ex-situ varietal collections of fruits trees, including more than 260 cultivars corresponding to almond,fig, vineyard, carob, cherry, apple, plum, orange, pear, apricot, peach, mandarin and lemon, will be established.Further, the primary descriptions of the accessions, for each of the species, will also be carried out.
