    Los hombres y mujeres que vivieron durante el Antiguo Régimen, dependieron sobremanera del espacio geográfico que habitaron. Al tener una economía basada en las actividades agropecuarias cualquier alteración climática, epidemia o plaga de langosta repercutía dura- mente en su vida cotidiana, por eso no debe sorprendernos que cuando se presentaban esos desastres buscaran amparo celestial, la vida les iba en ello.

    The men and women who lived during the Old Regime depended greatly on the geogra- phical space they inhabited. Harving an economy based on agricultural activities, any climatic alteration or locust plague had a hard impact on their daily lives. Therefore, it should not be any surprise that, when these natural disasters ocurred, they sought heavenly protection, since their lives depended on it.
