Resumen de Sobre prólogos e epílogos: cisões e formação nacional nas ficcionalizações de escrita e leitura do século XIX e XX brasileiros

  This essay seeks to analyze the process of representation of Brazil in prologues and epilogues of fundamental texts of Brazilian literature, showing how attempts to transform the country’s constitutive divisions into fiction are created in this set of texts, as well as implicit solutions that reveal horizons of expectations and class positions of the authors. We will analyze texts from the romantic period (by Alencar and Gonçalves Dias), as well as from the late 19th century (Machado de Assis and Euclides da Cunha), reaching texts from the 20th century (Mário de Andrade) and we will find representations that construct scenes of reading and confrontation dramatizing divisions within the dominant classes and between such classes and other segments of society. The final object of the analysis is to understand how the problem of the nation is transformed into eminently literary questions in these texts, which, in turn, can help understand what the idea of a national formation project meant among us.

  Este ensaio procura analisar o processo de representação do Brasil em prólogos e epílogos de textos fundamentais da literatura brasileira, mostrando como se elaboram, nesse conjunto, tentativas de transformar em ficção cisões constitutivas do país, assim como soluções implícitas que revelam horizontes de expectativas e posicionamentos de classe dos autores. Analisaremos textos do período romântico (de Alencar e Gonçalves Dias), assim como do século XIX tardio (Machado de Assis e Euclides da Cunha), chegando a textos do século XX (Mário de Andrade) e encontraremos representações que constroem cenas de leitura e de confronto dramatizando cisões dentro das classes dominantes e entre tais classes e outros segmentos da sociedade. O objetivo último das análises é compreender como o problema da nação está transformado em questões eminentemente literárias nesses textos, que, por sua vez, podem nos ajudar a compreender o que significou a ideia de um projeto de formação nacional.
