Resumen de La capilla musical de la catedral de Jaén en la época del barroco intermedio (1672-1711)

  Este artículo se centra en el estudio de la evolución histórica de la música en lacatedral de Jaén entre 1762, año de la toma de posesión del maestro de capillaPedro Soto y Jorquera y 1711, año de su fallecimiento. Dicho estudio, basado enfuentes primarias de las actas capitulares, permitirá profundizar en lasobligaciones y actividades de los compositores que ejercieron la función demaestro de capilla en aquella catedral andaluza. Asimismo, se analizará el papelde la música para solemnizar el culto religioso, la organización de la capillamusical y los modos de participación en las distintas festividades que tenían lugaren la catedral de Jaén a finales del siglo XVII y primera mitad del XVIII.

  This article is focused on the study of the historical evolution of music at the Jaéncathedral between 1762, the year in which the chapel master Pedro Soto yJorquera took up his post, and 1711, the year of his death. This study, based onprimary sources from the actas capitulares, will allow to deepen into the dutiesand activities of the composers who played the function of chapel master at thatAndalusian cathedral. It is also analysed the role of music in solemnising religiousworship, the organisation of the chapel music and the ways of participating in thedifferent festivities that took place in Jaén cathedral at the end of the 17th centuryand the first half of the 18th century.
