Resumen de Evolución histórica de la línea de costa de playas y calas de Menorca (Illes Balears): 1956-2015

  Shoreline evolution of 52 beaches and calas from the island of Menorca (Balearic Islands) has been analyzed from 1956 until 2015. This work has been done with the help of a Geographic Information System (GIS). The statistical parameter used is known as Net Shoreline Movement (NSM) that calculates the distance in meters of the oldest and most recent coastlines. The result is a medium setback of -4.78 for the whole island. The behavior of the coastline according the typology of the beach in A, B and C has been analyzed, being the most erosive type A (urban beaches), followed by type B (non-urban beaches with accessibility roll), with less erosive C-type beaches (non-urban beaches with accessibility on foot). Finally, the behavior of the coastline has also been analyzed with its geographical location. Highlights include the beaches of Ponent with strong erosion processes, followed by the beaches of Migjorn. In contrast, those of Tramuntana are the least erosive, although all the regions are erosive.

  S’ha analitzat l’evolució de la línia de costa de 52 platges i cales de l’illa de Menorca (Illes Balears) des de 1956 fins l’any 2015. El treball s’ha realitzat amb l’ajuda d’un Sistema de Informació Geogràfica (SIG). El paràmetre estadístic utilitzat es denomina Net Shoreline Movement (NSM), que calcula la distància de les línies de costa entre la més antiga i la més recent en metres. El resultat és un retrocés mig per a tota l’illa de -4.78 m. A més, s’ha analitzat quin és el comportament de la línia de costa segon la tipologia de la platja en A, B i C, mostrant diferències entre elles. La més erosiva correspon a la tipus A (platges urbanes), seguit de tipus B (platges no urbanes amb accessibilitat rodada), essent les menys erosives les platges tipus C (platges no urbanes amb accessibilitat a peu). Finalment, també s’ha analitzat el comportament de la línia de costa amb la seva ubicació geogràfica. Destaquen les platges de Ponent amb fortes processos erosius, seguit de les platges de Migjorn. En canvi, les de Tramuntana són les menys erosives, encara que totes les regions ho són.
