La pesca del Gerret o Picarel (Spicara smaris) en la isla de Ibiza ha sido un sutento histórico de la población. Pero cuando surge la necesidad de regular las acciones en el mediterráeno nos encontramos ante ciertos problemas que se deben de solventar para poder hacer una legislación coherente. Por un lado se desconocía el funcionamiento del arte, las zonas reales de calado, y lo selectivo que era el arte. A la misma vez que se desconocían las capturas reales efectuadas en la isla y el estado actual de la población. Este estudio se ha desarrollado a lo largo de varios años para intentar aportar un poco de luz sobre todas estas dudas y al mismo tiempo permitirnos proponer un plan de gestión más efectivo y sostenible. Demostrando a su vez que la pesca con artes tradicionales cuenta con porcentajes de efectividad que rondan el 90% Para poder hacerlo hemos contado con la participación activa del sector pesquero que nos ha ayudado y guiado a lo largo del desarrollo del estudio y han facilitado la introducción del nuevo plan de gestión a raíz de los resultados obtenidos

The fishing of the Picarel (Spicara smaris) on the island of Ibiza has been a historical sustenance for the population. But when the need arose to establish a regulation for it, several doubts emerged that this study aims to solve. On the one hand, the functioning of art, the real areas of draft, the selectiveness of art were unknown. In aditton witthe actual catches made on the island and the current state of the populationn. For this reason, this study has been performed over several years to try to provide some light on all these doubts and at the same time allow us to propose a more effective and sustainable management plan. Demonstrating that fishing with traditional gears has percentages of effectiveness that are around 90%. In order to carry it out we have had the active participation of the fishing sector that has helped us and guided us throughout the development of the study and has facilitated the introduction of the new management plan as a result of the results obtained.
