El cultivo del limón en Tucumán comenzó a cobrar importancia a partir de los años setenta del siglo XX, en respuesta a un conjunto de factores que llevaron a incrementar la superficie dedicada a este uso, al tiempo que se incorporaban los mayores adelantos tecnológicos en toda la cadena agroindustrial; en consecuencia, el limón producido en este territorio se convirtió en una referencia a nivel internacional. La investigación tiene como objetivo mostrar cómo ha evolucionado el cultivo del limón en Tucumán en las últimas décadas y detectar cómo se posiciona la provincia ante el incremento de las áreas productoras de limón en el mundo; y también analizar la problemática actual de los diferentes tipos productores limoneros. Para su elaboración se han utilizado estadísticas de la FAO, de los Censos Agropecuarios y la obtenida en entrevistas a productores limoneros en mayo de 2024. Como conclusión, se puede indicar que, en la actualidad, los diversos tipos de productores insertos en la cadena agroindustrial limonera tucumana se enfrentan a un gran desafío ante el gran incremento del área en el mundo y en consecuencia la saturación de los mercados, y por tanto una caída generalizada de los precios.

The cultivation of lemon in Tucumán began to gain importance from the seventies of the 20th century, in response to a set of factors that led to an increase in the area dedicated to this use, while incorporating the greatest technological advances throughout the region. agroindustrial chain; Consequently, the lemon produced in this territory became an international reference. The research aims to show how lemon cultivation has evolved in Tucumán in recent decades and detect how the province is positioned in the face of the increase in lemon-producing areas in the world; and also analyze the current problems of the different types of lemon producers. For its preparation, statistics from the FAO, the Agricultural Censuses and those obtained from interviews with lemon producers in May 2024 have been used. In conclusion, it can be indicated that, currently, the various types of producers inserted in the agroindustrial chain Tucumán lemon plantations face a great challenge due to the great increase in area in the world and consequently the saturation of the markets, and therefore a general drop in prices.
