  • Resumen
    • In García Fernández (2000), it was shown that the compound forms of the Spanish verb can express what is called in linguistic literature the "Continuative Perfect", and it was argued that this aspectual variety focalises an event from its beginning until an internal point, without focalising the event's termination. Furthermore, a classification of the aspectual categories was proposed in which the main division was made between conclusive and inconclusive events. The Continuative -considered to be a category different from the Perfect- and the Imperfect were in the same group for being considered as inconclusive events. The aim of this paper is first to study the different morphological expressions of Continuative, showing which of them are shared by the Imperfect. Then we will establish the restrictions that the Aktionsart of the predicates imposes on them. Finally, we will give an explanation of the obligatory use of same adverbial complements in the expression of the Continuative aspect.
