  • This article presents the results of an analysis of the meanings and uses of a series of Spanish obligative verbal periphrases as used in the bilingual regions of Catalonia and Galicia. The results are constrasted with the meaning and use of the same verbal periphrases in the monolingual areas. A central aspect of the article is the frequency of use of the analysed periphrases.
