    El estudio de los documentos es clave para conocer todos los ámbitos que giran en torno a ellos. Las cancillerías real o eclesiástica y las oficinas notariales se establecen como centros de producción documental de gran importancia, pero es la concejil la que más consigue evidenciar la historia de muchos espacios locales y la que poca atención recibe. Una realidad general que también es evidente en Canarias. Los concejos que se implantaron en las islas, de corte castellano, marcaron el devenir de unas áreas geográficas que, con divergencias, funcionaron al unísono. Su conexión directa con la Castilla peninsular, así como la posterior en el continente americano, y con las islas portuguesas del Atlántico permite conocer los procesos llevados a cabo en estos lugares, no solo en lo que concierne a la población y gobierno, sino también a su producción documental. Así, tras el análisis de la documentación que se conserva en el archivo del concejo de Tenerife, se tratarán de reconstruir todos aquellos aspectos que giran en torno a ellos, como la estructura de la institución (concejo) y la composición de la oficina que lo produjo (escribanía mayor del concejo). Todo ello, desde dos perspectivas, la paleográfica y la diplomática, que permiten dibujar un ámbito del gobierno insular hasta ahora, en parte, desconocido. Unos análisis que emplean como base un tipo documental, las actas de las sesiones de cabildo, las cuales son el testimonio de gran parte de las gestiones de la institución local y poseen una muestra muy representativa de tipos documentales y de diversidad de escrituras que contribuyen a plantear un escenario muy completo de esta oficina de expedición.

    The study of documents is the key to understanding all the areas that revolve around them. The royal or ecclesiastical chancelleries and the notarial offices are established as centres of documentary production of great importance, but it is the council chancellery that most evidence the history of many local spaces and which receives little attention. This is a general reality that is also evident in the Canary Islands. The Castilian-style councils that were established on the islands determined the development of geographical areas that, although divergent, functioned in unison. Their direct connection with mainland Castile, as well as later on the American continent, and with the Portuguese islands in the Atlantic, allows us to understand the processes carried out in these places, not only in terms of population and government, but also in terms of their documentary production. Thus, after analysing the documentation preserved in the archives of the Tenerife council, we will try to reconstruct all the aspects that revolve around them, such as the structure of the institution (council) and the composition of the office that produced them (the major council scribe's office). All this will be done from two perspectives, the palaeographic and the diplomatic, which will allow us to draw a picture of an area of the island government that was hitherto, in part, unknown. These analyses are based on one type of document, the acts of the council sessions, which are the testimony of a large part of the local institution's actions and contain a very representative sample of documentary types and a diversity of deeds that help to present a very complete scenario of this expedition office. es dc.format application/pdf
