    La historia de la diplomacia, desde que se rescatara del olvido y el descrédito junto con la nueva historia política, se ha dedicado intensamente al estudio de las relaciones internacionales de las grandes monarquías europeas, ignorando la acción diplomática de otros sistemas políticos, entre ellos las ciudades. En el presente artículo pretendemos contribuir al estudio de la diplomacia urbana bajomedieval de la ciudad de Valencia, capital del reino homónimo, a partir de la correspondencia que sus autoridades enviaron al rey Martín I entre 1398 y 1400

    The history of diplomacy, since it was rescued from oblivion and discredit together with the new political history, has been intensively devoted to the study of the international relations of the great European monarchies, ignoring the diplomatic action of other political systems, among them the cities. In this article we aim to contribute to the study of late medieval urban diplomacy in the city of Valencia, capital of the kingdom of the same name, based on the correspondence that its authorities sent to King Martin I between 1398 and 1400.
