Resumen de Los Sitios de Zaragoza (1808-1809) vistos por los memorialistas franceses: convergencias y singularidades

En este artículo se analizan las obras de aquellos principales memorialistas franceses que como André Étienne d’Audebert de Férussac, Joseph Rogniat y Louis-François Lejeune escribieron sobre su lucha en los Sitios de Zaragoza (1808-1809) desde el punto de vista del invasor napoleónico. Las convergencias se materializan a la hora de tratar la excepcionalidad de la defensa de los españoles, el comportamiento valiente y orgulloso de su población civil, el liderazgo ejercido por los monjes, el determinante papel de las mujeres, el padecimiento y sufrimiento de sus habitantes o los juicios de personajes tan trascendentales como José de Palafox, Agustina de Aragón o la condesa de Bureta. Del mismo modo se han marcado las singulares que estos memorialistas presentan a la hora de ofrecer los detalles en sus descripciones. En este sentido el más generoso resultó ser Lejeune, quien, aprovechándose de la corriente romántica imperante, evoca los Sitios con una gran carga emocional ausente en el resto de relatos más técnicos y menos detallistas.

In this article, the works of the most important French memorialists, such as André Étienne d’Audebert de Férussac, Joseph Rogniat, and Louis-François Lejeune, written about fi ghts during the Sieges of Zaragoza (1808-1809) from the point of view of Napoleonic invaders, has been analysed. The convergences are materialised when the exceptionality of the defence by Spaniards, the brave and proud behavior of their civil population, the leadership exercised by the monks, the determinant role of women, the ailing and suffering of its inhabitants or the judgments of persons so transcendental as José de Palafox, Agustina de Aragón, or the Countess of Bureta are presented. In the same way, the singularities that these memorialists show when they offer the details in their descriptions are marked. In this sense, the most generous became Lejeune, who, taking advantage of the prevailing romantic current, reminds the Sieges of a tremendous emotional burden absent in the rest of the relations, which are more technical and less detailed.
