    Durante gran parte del siglo XX, Chile tuvo un papel destacado en la arena multilateral, sin embargo, el derrocamiento del presidente Salvador Allende sepultó el prestigio diplomático de este pequeño país. Por este motivo, el objetivo de este artículo es caracterizar la actuación chilena en las Naciones Unidas entre 1973 y 1978, período en el cual primó un estilo diplomático denominado “pretoriano ideológico”. Esta investigación busca analizar la ofensiva multilateral de la Unión Soviética y los países socialistas contra Chile en esta organización internacional, así como los circunstanciales sistemas de alianza que establece la dictadura de Augusto Pinochet en la Asamblea General

    During most of the 20th century, Chile played a prominent role in the multilateral arena;

    however, the overthrow of President Salvador Allende buried the diplomatic prestige of this small country. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to characterize Chile’s performance at the United Nations between 1973 and 1978, a period in which a diplomatic style called “praetorian-ideological” prevailed. This research seeks to analyze the multilateral offensive of the Soviet Union and the socialist countries against Chile in this international organization, as well as the circumstantial alliance systems established by Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship in the General Assembly
