Resumen de Pasión por las máscaras: de lo popular a la post-vanguardia en el sur

  Nuestro punto de vista será el de la antropología del arte, una subdisciplina etnográfica de poco predicamento entre los antropólogos, y mucha más entre los historiadores del arte, donde se suele hablar ahora habitualmente de un «giro etnográfico». A partir de presupuestos como «fantasma», y «alteridad», haremos un recorrido por la presencia de la máscara vinculada a culturas sureñas. Comenzaremos con la presencia de la de la máscara nègre en el andaluz Pablo Picasso, y en general en las vanguardias artísticas de principios del siglo XX. ¿Expresión cultural y/o recreación formal?, sería la pregunta. En segundo lugar, a través de diversas manifestaciones culturales, y más en particular del ejemplo etnográfico del carnaval de Alhama de Granada, abordamos la relación de las máscaras de carnaval con la alteridad en una sociedad desencantada dela relación con lo maravilloso y con la cultura sacrificial.

  Our point of view will be that of the anthropology of art, an ethnographic subdiscipline of little predicament among anthropologists, and much more among art historians, where it is now customary to speak of an «ethnographic turn». Based on assumptions such as «ghost»and «otherness», we will make a tour through the presence of the mask linked to southern cultures. We will begin with the presence of the nègre mask in the Andalusian Pablo Picasso, and in general in the artistic avant-gardes of the early twentieth century. Cultural expression and/or formal recreation, would be the question. Secondly, through various cultural manifestations, and more particularly the ethnographic example of the carnival of Alhama de Granada, we approach the relationship of carnival masks with otherness in a society disenchanted with the relationship with the marvelous and with the sacrificial culture.
