Resumen de La Sierra Nevada de Joaquín Sorolla. Una nueva mirada desde el Jardín de los Adarves

La mirada de Sierra Nevada todavía no ha sido investigada desde la disciplina artística y, más concretamente, dentro del marco de paisaje de alta montaña. Este artículo examina esas nuevas formas de mirar y la importancia que ha tenido la transformación del pintor Joaquín Sorolla sobre dicho territorio a través de su obra. Si bien hasta entonces, las representaciones de imágenes de esta montaña se reconocían como telón de fondo de la ciudad a través de la mirada romántica. Sorolla va transformando su forma de ver y pintarla, desde el Jardín de los Adarves, hasta convertirse en una nueva forma de entender este territorio y dar paso a un nuevo concepto artístico más cercano a los modelos de arte de vanguardia, como hiciera Cézanne con la montaña de Sainte-Victoire. Este artículo incluye un análisis práctico mediante trabajos au plein air, estableciendo así una nueva observación, con anteriores estudios y descripciones, sobre la mirada de Sierra Nevada en este pintor.

The view of the Sierra Nevada has never been investigated before, not within the artistic discipline nor, more specifically, from within the high mountain landscape. This article examines these new ways of looking at these mountains and the importance painter Joaquín Sorolla has had in transforming this through his work. Before, the representations of images of these mountains were recognized as a background to the city through the romantic gaze. Sorolla transformed this way of looking at and painting these mountains, from the Jardín de los Adarves, and turned it into a new way of understanding the mountain landscape, giving way to a new geographical and artistic concept closer to the models of avant-garde art, as did Cézanne with the mountain of Sainte-Victoire. This article includes a personal and practical analysis through plein air studies, thus establishing a new observation, in relation to previous studies and descriptions, of the way this painter was looking at the Sierra Nevada.
