Resumen de El Reino de Granada en la crisis del Seiscientos: el caso del Valle de Lecrín ante las epidemias de finales de siglo

Durante el último tercio del siglo XVII, España se sumió en otra nueva crisis poblacional ocasionada por la peste y las malas cosechas de 1678 y 79. Este hecho influyó en la comarca del Valle de Lecrín, paso obligado de mercancías entre Granada y la Costa que sucumbió de forma severa en la población, donde además la Diócesis embargó el poco trigo almacenado. Los vecinos vieron amenazadas sus vidas llegando a tomar decisiones impensables para salvarse. Al analizar dicho fenómeno se han visto otras dos crisis posteriores que, aunque pareciesen menores, alteraron las vidas de esta comarca rural de Granada.

During the last third of the 17th century, Spain plunged into another new population crisis caused by the plague and the bad harvests of 1678 and 1679. This fact influenced the region of the Valle de Lecrín, an obligatory passage of goods between Granada and the coast that it succumbed severely in the town, where the Diocese also seized the little stored wheat. The neighbors saw their lives threatened, coming to make unthinkable decisions to save themselves. When analyzing this phenomenon, two other subsequent crises have been seen that, although they seemed minor, altered the lives of this rural region of Granada.
