Resumen de El sistema de vigilancia en época nazarí: las atalayas de la Axarquía de Málaga

En el presente trabajo de investigación nos centramos en un territorio perteneciente a la actual provincia de Málaga: la antigua Axarquía y la ṭā‘a de Comares, donde se analizan las atalayas y aquellas que contenían torre durante la Edad Media desde una perspectiva arqueológica, histórica y geográfica. A pesar de algunos trabajos realizados hasta ahora sobre aquellas torres atalayas que se conservan en la provincia de Málaga, a través del uso de documentación relativa a los siglos XV y XVI hemos identificado hasta 31 atalayas. La ubicación de estas nos permite conocer cuál era la estrategia de vigilancia del territorio y del viario en el oriente malacitano, demostrando así una potente reestructuración militar nazarí y un alto interés en la vigilancia y el control de la Axarquía, la cual destacaba por ser un extenso territorio con alta demografía debido al amplio número de asentamientos y una fuerte producción agrícola.

In this research work we focus on a territory belonging to the current province of Malaga: the ancient Axarquía and the ṭā‘a of Comares, where the watchtowers and those that contained towers during the Middle Ages are analyzed from an archaeological, historical and geographical perspective. Despite some work carried out so far on those watchtowers that are preserved in the province of Malaga, through the use of documentation related to the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries we have identified up to 31 watchtowers. The location of these allows us to know what was the strategy of surveillance of the territory and the road in the east of Malaga, thus demonstrating a powerful nasrid military restructuring and a high interest in the surveillance and control of the Axarquía, which stood out for being an extensive territory with high demography due to the large number of settlements and a strong agricultural production.
