La finalidad de este trabajo es analizar detalladamente algunos ritos de la muerte noble: la hora del óbito, el posible tratamiento del cuerpo, el amortajamiento y el velatorio, utilizando testimonios cronísticos y fuentes documentales. Hemos sacado a la luz datos inéditos referidos al fallecimiento, en el siglo XV y la primera mitad del XVI, de personas pertenecientes a importantes familias de la aristocracia castellana.

The purpose of this work is to thoroughly analyze certain death rites observed by the nobility: the time of death, the possible treatment of the body, enshrouding and wakes, using chronicle testimonies and documentary sources. We have uncovered unpublished data concerning the deaths of individuals belonging to important families of the Castilian aristocracy in the fifteenth and first half of the sixteenth centuries.
