    En la última década se ha avanzado considerablemente en el estudio de la economía del llamado Círculo del Estrecho durante los siglos IV y III AC. No obstante, los esfuerzos de estos últimos años por revisar y actualizar los materiales arqueológicos que eran objetos de producción y distribución en este período en los distintos círculos productivos del Mediterráneo occidental no han venido desgraciadamente acompañados por la ponderación global de estos centros. Por otro lado, este mismo período necesita un análisis diacrónico que, desde las perspectivas de la Economía Política, pueda ofrecer una visión verdaderamente histórica de este proceso en el período que abarca desde el Tratado del 348, fecha de la consolidación de la hegemonía cartaginesa, al 218 AC, año en el que se consuma definitivamente la aparición de Roma como primera potencia en esta parte del Mediterráneo.

    ABSTRACT In the last decade, we have improved quite a lot in the study of the economy of the so-called The Straits of Gibraltar Circleduring the fourth and third centuries BC. Nevertheless, these efforts of recent years to review and update the archaeological remains which were the production and distribution objects in this period in the different production circles of the Mediterranean Sea have not unfortunately result in a general measurement of these circles. On the other hand, this same period needs a diachronic analysis that, from the perspectives of the Political Economy, which can offer a really historical view of this process in the period that goes from the Treaty of 348 BC, the date of the strengthening of the Carthaginian hegemony, to 218 BC, the year in which the rise of Rome as the first power in this side of the Mediterranean Sea is accomplished.
