Se ofrece una breve panorámica de la presencia de los monstruos marinos en la tradición cultural escandinava, finalizando con la referencia al Speculum Regale y la traducción al castellano de sus capítulos XII y XVI, dedicados a las maravillas de las aguas de Islandia y de Groenlandia respectivamente, y donde se encuentra una noticia de lo que luego sería denominado el kraken.

We offer a brief overview of the presence of Sea monsters in the Scandinavian cultural tradition, ending with the reference to the Speculum Regale and the translation into Spanish of its chapters XII and XVI. We can find in them some news about the seawonders of Iceland and Greenland respectively, highlighting their references to whales, and the presence of creatures such as mermaids and the kraken.
