  Los inquisidores consideraban que el sermón debía ocupar un lugar principal en las ceremonias del Santo Oficio. En este estudio analizamos diversos sermones impresos que fueron predicados en autos de fe, en los prolegómenos de una visita de distrito, y durante las publicaciones de edictos sobre herejes e índices de libros prohibidos, entre otras ceremonias organizadas por o para la Inquisición. En uno u otro contexto, la intención de estas prédicas era recordar a los fieles que formaban parte de una cosmovisión disciplinada, con el fin premeditado de unificar conciencias y de recordar el objetivo excepcional del Santo Oficio: perseguir la herejía.

  The inquisitors considered that the sermon should occupy a main place in the ceremonies of the Holy Office. In this study we analyze various printed sermons that were preached in autos-da-fé, in the run-up to a district visit, and during the publication of edicts on heretics and indexes of forbidden books, among other ceremonies organized by or for the Inquisition. In one context or another, the intention of these sermons was to remind the faithful that they were part of a disciplined worldview, with the premeditated purpose of unifying consciences and reminding the exceptional objective of the Holy Office: the persecution of heresy.
