Resumen de El legado artístico de la familia Arias de Saavedra al convento de Loreto en el siglo XVII

Se abordará la huella, en forma de obras de arte, que Loreto conserva de quienes fueron sus patronos durante largo tiempo, la ilustre familia de los condes de Castellar ymarqueses de Moscoso. Precisamente uno de sus miembros llegaría a pasar a América dondellegaría a detentar el cargo de gobernador de la provincia de Lampa en el Perú. Consideroque es un tema que aun no ha sido abordado, ni aun por mí mismo en los trabajos que tengopublicados sobre el convento de Loreto, y aportaré algunos datos inéditos que creo de interés,sobre todo en relación a la magnífica escultura de San Diego de Alcalá, que en 1992 figuró enla Exposición “Los franciscanos y el Nuevo Mundo” celebrada en el monasterio de la Rábida.

The convent of Loreto conserves the traces, in the form of works of art, of thefamily who were its patrons over many centuries, the noble family of the Counts of Castellarand the Marquises of Moscoso. One of its members later emigrated to America, where hewas appointed Governor of the Province of Lampa in Peru. Despite the fact that I have notdealt with this subject in the works I have published on the convent of Loreto, I consider itimportant, and here, I will present unpublished data which I believe to be of interest, especiallyin relation to the magnificent sculpture of San Diego de Alcala, which was featured in the 1992exhibition “The Franciscans and the New World” displayed at the monastery of La Rabida
