Resumen de El obispo Antonio del Águila, un terciario franciscano mirobrigense, benefactor de su convento

  El objeto de la presente comunicación es dar a conocer algunos aspectos relevantesde las donaciones y legales que el mirobrigense obispo de Zamora, D. Antonio del Águila,efectuó a favor del convento de San Francisco de Ciudad Rodrigo, en los años centrales delsiglo XVI, en una de cuyas capillas sería inhumado. Destacan tres aspectos: en primer lugar,la financiación del capítulo trienal de la provincia de San Miguel, con sede en Miróbriga, yque se inició en 1554 hasta el año 1659, es decir, más de una centuria; en segundo lugar, lagenerosidad de medios que dispuso el prelado para asistir a los religiosos que concurrían adichas asambleas, tanto para su manutención como para el resto de necesidades que implicabadicha reunión; en tercer lugar, la extinción del concierto y posterior convenio, con el trasladode celebración a la villa de Béjar, a causa del patronato asumido por los duques, entoncesíntimamente vinculados a la Corte española.

  The object of the present paper is to draw attention to some relevant aspects of thedonations and legal arrangements that the Bishop of Zamora, Antonio del Águila, a native ofCiudad Rodrigo, made in the central years of the 16th century in favour of the convent of SanFrancisco in the city of his birth, in one of whose chapels he was to be buried. Three aspectsstand out: first, the financing of the triennial chapter of the Province of San Miguel, with itsheadquarters in Miróbriga, which began in 1554 and lasted until the year 1659, that is to say,over a century; secondly, the generous means that the prelate placed at the disposal of thereligious who attended such assemblies, in terms both of subsistence and of the other needsthat attendance implied; thirdly, the expiry of the agreement and the later arrangement, withthe venue being moved to the town of Béjar, as a result of the assumption of the role ofpatrons on the part of the dukes, who at that time were intimately associated with the SpanishCourt.
