Este estudio no aborda el balance general de la hacienda municipal de Tocina en la segunda mitad del siglo xviii porque ya fue motivo de una sólida investigación. Sin embargo, para su completa comprensión era necesario atender aquellos aspectos aparentemente menores del presupuesto municipal que fueron lógicamente desplazados por el análisis general. En este sentido, lo que se pretende en estas páginas es conocer la distribución del gasto municipal de manera minuciosa, tal como la fuente documental la ofrece, y plantear la hipótesis acerca de la influencia del ideario político de la Ilustración en ese capítulo tan trascendental de la vida política municipal desde que en 1760 se creara por Carlos III la Contaduría General de Propios y Arbitrios, que constituyó una auténtica revolución en la administración local española.

This study does not address the general balance of the Tocina municipal estate in the second half of the 18th century because it was already the subject of a solid investigation.
However, for its complete understanding, it was necessary to pay attention to those apparently minor aspects of the municipal budget that were logically displaced by the general analysis. In this sense, what is intended in these pages is to know the distribution of municipal spending in a detailed manner, as the documentary source offers it, and to propose the hypothesis about the influence of the political ideology of the Enlightenment in that transcendental chapter of municipal political life since Carlos III created the General Accounting Office of Propios y Arbitrios in 1760, which constituted a true revolution in the Spanish local administration.
