El presente artículo analiza el rol que la memoria juega en la construcción del movimiento estudiantil de los años noventa en Chile. Para esto, se analiza un total de dieciséis entrevistas a militantes estudiantiles, expertos y académicos y académicas. A través de ellas es posible observar la relevancia que tiene la memoria del pasado reciente para el movimiento estudiantil de postdictadura. En contraposición al clima político en el país, los y las estudiantes movilizados rescatan y revitalizan la memoria de la Unidad Popular y la tragedia de la dictadura, constituyendo un campo de lucha que resulta crucial para el desarrollo de las identidades colectivas del movimiento social en Chile. Su interpretación varía entre los distintos grupos políticos yendo desde una memoria de la tragedia, una de carácter funcional hasta una memoria antagonista.
This article analyzes the role that memory plays in the postdictatorship student movement of the nineties in Chile. For this purpose, it analysis sixteen interviews with student activists, experts and academics. Through them it is possible to observe the relevant place that memory of Chile’s recent past has for the postdictatorship student movement. Contrary to the political climate of the day, the activists involved rescue and revitalize the memory of both Popular Unity’s and dictatorship, building a field of struggle which is crucial for the development of of the collective identities that will head the social mobilizations in Chile. Its interpretation varies between the different political groups, ranging from a memory of the tragedy, a functional one, to an antagonistic memory.
