    El 21 de enero de 2021 se celebró el centenario del nacimiento del Partito comunista italiano. ¿Cuáles son los motivos por los cuales, aún hoy, se reflexiona acerca de la historia del Pci? En primer lugar porque el Pci ha sido el partido comunista más grande del mundo occidental entre 1945 y 1989. En segundo lugar porque el Pci ha sido un partido que ha tenido algunas características originales respecto a los otros Partidos comunistas occidentales. Por último, porque su herencia ha tenido influencia por muchos años en la identidad de la izquierda italiana, después de 1989. El Partito comunista italiano ha dejado una profunda herencia cultural en el sistema político italiano.

    The centenary of the birth of the Italian Communist Party was celebrated on 21 January 2021. Why still reflect on the history of the PCI? First of all, because the PCI was the largest communist party in the Western world between 1945 and 1989. Secondly, because the PCI was a party that had some original characteristics compared to the other Western Communist Parties. Finally, because his legacy has influenced the identity of the Italian left for many years after 1989. The Italian Communist Party has left a great cultural heritage in the Italian political system.
