In this paper we present the results of the archaeozoological and taphonomic study of the faunal assemblages recovered in the new excavations carried out in the Middle Paleolithic site of Cova del Puntal del Gat (Benirredrà). This is a highly fragmented sample corresponding to a diverse taxonomic spectrum of mainly anthropogenic origin, which provides new data on the subsistence from animal origin of Neanderthal groups in the central Valencian area.
