Pseudokarst: un mundo en las otras cuevas

    La ausencia de rocas solubles en una región, no implica necesariamente que no existan cuevas en ella. Así, en los granitos y granodioritas del NO y O de la Península Ibérica las provincias de A Coruña, Cáceres, Lugo, Ourense y Pontevedra, y en la Región Norte de Portugal, se han localizado numerosas cuevas en ese tipo de rocas, alguna de las cuales supera los 1562 m de desarrollo topográfico.

    En este trabajo describimos brevemente los casos de cuevas encontradas en estos territorios, limitándonos a describir el insólito paisaje subterráneo que podemos encontrar en sus cavidades, destacando, como parte del patrimonio geológico, las formas esculpidas en la roca y especialmente los espeleotemas y biopeleotemas.

    The absence of not soluble rocks does not imply the absence of caves. Thus, in the granite and ganiodorite rocks of the NW and W of the Iberian Peninsula, in the provinces of A Coruña, Cáceres, Lugo, Ourense and Pontevedra, and in the Northern Region of Portugal, interesting caves have been studied, some even reaching 1562 m of topographic development.

    In this communication we briefly review the types of caves studied, focusing on describing the complex underground landscape that we can find in these cavities, highlighting, as part of the geological heritage, the forms sculpted in rock, the deposits, and specially the speleothems and biospeleothems.
