La imagen de los judíos medievales va regularmente asociada a la recaudación de impuestos y a la usura. Y sin embargo los documentos ofrecen noticias sobre otras muchas actividades y oficios que asimismo ejercieron, entre los cuales los de herrero (desde el siglo XII), herrador y albéitar (siglos XIV-XV), hasta el momento mismo de la expulsión general (desde Orense a Zaragoza y desde León a Murcia, pasando por Ávila, Talavera de la Reina y Toledo), lo que no es extraño, teniendo en cuenta la atención que, por diversas causas (alimentación, transporte y comercio), mostraron también los hebreos a los animales, hasta el punto de llegar a ejercer incluso como ganaderos.

The image of the medieval Jews is usually associated with the collection of taxes and usury. However the documents offer news and testimonies about many other activities and trades also exercised by jews; among them, blacksmith (from the twelfth century), farrier and veterinarian (centuries XIVXV), until the moment of the general expulsion (from Orense to Zaragoza and from León to Murcia, passing through Ávila, Talavera de la Reina and Toledo). This is not surprising, taking into account the interest that, for several reasons (food, transport and trade), the Hebrews also showed in the animals, even getting to exercise as farmers.
