Resumen de Endoparásitos caninos bajo el reinado de Carlos III, Madrid 1764

  Ante la elevada mortandad que experimentó en el año 1764 la especie canina de la Villa de Madrid, el Real Tribunal del Protomedicato y la Academia Médica Matritense recibieron orden de la autoridad para averiguar el origen y la naturaleza del mal. En los diferentes informes, se describen diversas lesiones encontradas en las necropsias practicadas en los perros, llamando la atención la presencia y descripción de numerosos y variados parásitos internos, a los que sin embargo ambas instituciones no atribuyeron la causa de tal mortandad. En la comunicación se incluyen algunos datos sobre la prevalencia actual de estos endoparásitos caninos identificados en nuestro país.

  Due to a high canine mortality experienced in the year 1764 in the town of Madrid, the Royal Court of Protomedicate and the Matritense Medical Academy were ordered by the authorities to study and find out the origin and nature of the disease. In the different reports, diverse pathological alterations were described in the necropsies performed in dogs, but among all the most relevant findings found were the presence and description of a great variety of numerous internal parasites, to which however both institutions did not attribute the cause of such mortality. The communication includes some data on the current prevalence of these canine endoparasites identified in our country.
