  El próximo año 2020 el Cuerpo de veterinaria militar cumplirá 175 años de existencia en los Ejércitos de España. El documento fundacional fue presentado a la reina Isabel II para su firma por el general Narváez. De este modo, tan simple y a la vez tan complejo en su larga gestación, se constituyó el día 15 de junio de 1845 el nuevo Cuerpo castrense, hoy bajo la denominación de «Especialidad Fundamental» del Cuerpo Militar de Sanidad de la Defensa.
