El Siglo de las Luces, siglo XVIII, supuso un gran cambio para la sociedad europea en cuanto a avance cultural y social se refiere. Potencias como Francia y Alemania tiraron del carro del libro del conocimiento hacia el pueblo e impulsaron nuevas y creativas formas de llevar el saber a los distintos estratos de la sociedad. En Medicina y Medicina Veterinaria, apareció un peón trascendental en este ámbito. Se trata del médico y escultor francés Louis Thomas Jérôme Auzoux: hombre curioso, buen profesional y mejor persona, según nos permiten saber sus estudiosos. Auzoux introdujo al mundo docente unas novedosas maquetas anatómicas que sembraron conocimiento por todo el globo y sirvieron como base a nuevos escultores. Este hecho podemos apreciarlo en algunas piezas de origen alemán del Museo (MAV-UCO) Profesor José Sandoval Juárez, en Córdoba (España). Esta comunicación intenta profundizar en el proceso de creación de sus piezas, el funcionamiento de su empresa y el dar luz a Auzoux como persona en sí mismo y sus valores. España está repleta de vitrinas con sus creaciones, y la Facultad de Veterinaria de la Universidad de Córdoba alberga una de las colecciones mejor conservadas de este Doctor.

The Age of Enlightenment, the 18th Century, meant a great change to the European society referring to cultural and social spheres. Powerful countries such as France and Germany pulled of the book of knowledge of the working class and motivated new and creative ways to bring the wisdom to the social stratums. In Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, a significant piece in this environment appeared. We are talking about the French Doctor and sculptor Louis Thomas Jérôme Auzoux: a curious person, good professional and better mankind, as long as his scholars let us know. Auzoux brought to the education field a bunch of original anatomic mock-ups that spread knowledge all over the world and were a base to novel sculptors. We can see this fact in some of the german pieces of the Profesor José Sandoval Museum (MAV-UCO) of Córdoba (Spain). This report tries to go in depth in the creation process of his pieces, the functioning of his factory and to light up Auzoux as a mankind and his values. Spain is replete of cabinets with his creations and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Córdoba holds one of the best preserved collections of this Doctor.
