  • Resumen
    • The Subbetic Domain thrust over the Flysch Trough Units and the Malaguide Complex with a topto-the-SE sense of movement, in the eastern Betics, during the Middle Burdigalian in a piggy-back sequence (Lonergan et al., 1994). The Subbetic Domain is deformed by close folds that have hinges that defined an arch from N-S trends in the East to ENE-WSW in the West. These folds have vergences towards the E and S respectively and begin to grow in the Early Burdigalian. Rocks of the Middle Burdigalian define progressive unconformities in the synforms that record the fighting of the folds. All these folds undergone vertical axis rotations after de Lower Burdigalian (Allerton et al., 1993) and acquire his present day arched pattern. Palaeomagnetic data indicate that the folds had N-S original trend and have vergences toward the East. This deformation history implies a constriction with area reduction in the Subbetic zone.
