    La preocupación metapoética ha desempeñado un papel importante en la lírica española a partir de la mitad del siglo XX. Frente al realismo defendido por los autores del 40 y del 50, José María Álvarez puso de manifiesto la necesidad de atender a lo artístico. Su obra magna, Museo de cera, constituye un claro reflejo de sus ideas literarias.

    En este artículo se analizará su concepción de lo poético. Para ello, se estudiarán, por un lado, las poéticas extraliterarias y la metapoesía. Por otro, se abordará cómo se configura de manera indirecta el sentido de lo literario, bien a través del estudio de las referencias explícitas, bien a través del estudio de la preocupación existencial.

    The metapoetic concern has played an important role in the Spanish poetry from the middle of the 20th century onwards. Against the realism defended by the authors in the 40’s and 50’s, José María Álvarez revealed the need to attend the artistic fact. His greatest work, Museo de Cera, is a clear reflection of his literary ideas.

    In this paper I will analise his conception of the poetic fact. In order to do this, I will study, on the one hand, extraliterary poetics and metapoetry. On the other hand, I will deal with how the meaning of the literary is configured in an indirect way, either through the study of explicit references or through the study of an existential concern.
