Resumen de Videogames and job security at school

Angelo Latella

  • Occupational safety is one of the most important educational needs wherever you work and proper training can make the difference. This problem has long been perceived as a primary need and the school becomes the place to start building a constructive mentality. But how to link these needs to the current reality, in which the children are increasingly connected, especially interested in their digital identity and their “social image”? One of the most interesting systems comes from a collaboration between INAIL, Puglia region and Puglia regional school office that led to the creation of a videogame with the evocative name: “Scacciarischi”. The initiative involves students from all levels of Puglia region schools’ (600,000 pupils and 650 schools) of the 2018/2019 school year. The project aims to create a preventive mentality in an engaging way, starting from the point of view of the young, unique and true users of the training service. The videogame can be free downloaded from Google play and app store (http://www. scacciarischi.it/en/) and is one of the most interesting attempts made in Southern Italy to promote Educational policies of job security in schools. The download data are very high as well as the spread in the territory. The game is an “edutainment” that informs and sensitizes the subjects, alternating phases of pure gaming with moments of analysis and in depth sections. With these projects we try to enter into new multimedia languages aimed at customized learning and suitable to motivate students to deepen and build shared training paths. The use of videogames in international educational policies is spreading more and more and that’s why such initiatives tend to increase. The truly innovative education is that which tries to think and translate itself into actuality, able to catch the depth of the codes and their change over time. Occupational safety emerges as one of the most important topics on which to build the training policy in the coming decades and the use of videogames can be a valid help in order to reach this goal.
