Starting from the formulation of the second commandement: non adsumes nomen Domini Dei tui in uanum... the Jews went from using the name of God moderately to a complete prohibition of its use during the period between the end of the captivity and the appearing of Jesuschrist. So, it was necessary to speak about God through circumlocutions. The inmediate consequence appears on the language of the N.T. The author of this paper makes a revision of a series of these circumlocutions examining their origins and the use made by the writers of the N.T.
