Rodolfo Llopis ante la crisis de PSOE de 1972: su versión en la correspondencia con Andrés Saborit

    Los años setenta fueron los de la renovación del PSOE. Desde el congreso de 1970 se fue cristalizando la crisis que había comenzado a asomarse en los sesenta y que explotó primero en el congreso de la UGT de 1971 y definitivamente en el congreso del partido de 1972. La pugna entre continuidad y ruptura, exterior e interior, se inclinaría en favor de estos últimos en el congreso de Suresnes de 1974, pero la crisis viene de muchos años atrás. Las cartas del entonces secretario general del PSOE, Rodolfo Llopis, a Andrés Saborit, que analizamos aquí, son un valioso hallazgo que aporta a la historiografía una contribución concluyente: los anquilosados dirigentes del PSOE en el exilio no estaban preparados para hacer del PSOE un partido y una organización útil a la España que iba a enfrentarse a la democratización tras la muerte del dictador. La renovación del partido no solo se hizo sin ellos, sino contra ellos y a pesar de ellos, como muestra la correspondencia entre Llopis y Saborit.

    The seventies were the years of the renovation of the PSOE. Since the 1970 congress the crisis that began to appear in the 1960s started to crystallise, and it first exploded in the UGT congress in 1971 and definitively in the congress of the party in 1972. The struggle between continuity and rupture, exterior and interior, would lean towards the latter in the Suresnes congress in 1974, but the crisis started many years before. The letters of the then Secretary General of the PSOE, Rodolfo Llopis, to Andrés Saborit, which we analyse here, are a valuable finding that adds to the historiography a conclusive contribution: the stagnant PSOE leaders in exile were not ready to make the PSOE a party and a useful organization to Spain, a country that was going to face the democratization after the death of the dictator. The renovation of the party was not only made without them, but against them and despite them, as shown by the correspondence between Llopis and Saborit.
