    Los datos geográficos de nuevas capturas de Butiobruchus bridwelli (Prevett, 1966) (Coleoptera: Bruchidae: Pachymerinae) han permitido ampliar el área geográfica de distribución de esta especie a la mitad norte de Sudamérica. Se aporta una nueva descripción de esta especie, la única que actualmente se conoce del género Butiobruchus Prevett 1966, cuya validez taxonómica se mantiene en el presente artículo.

    The geographic data of news collects of Butiobruchus bridwelli (Prevett, 1966) (Coleoptera: Bruchidae: Pachymerinae) have allowed to expand the area of distribution of this species to the northern half of South America. A new description of this species is provided, the only one that is currently know of the genus Butiobruchus Prevett 1966, whose taxonomic validity is maintained in this paper.
