A lo largo del siglo XVIII pasaron por las Cátedras de Cánones y Leyes de la Universidad de Valladolid ciento once catedráticos. Treinta y cuatro de ellos, algo mas del 30%, ejercieron, además, como abogados de la Real Chancillería. Profesionales liberales y universitarios se presentan como un grupo de cabeza en la evolución social de las élites en las décadas finales del Antiguo Régimen. Se trata de profesionales liberales entroncados solo ocasionalmente con la función pública, desligados, generalmente, de los Colegios Mayores y mucho mas vinculados a la Universidad que sus predecesores de otras centurias. Desde estas consideraciones se plantea un análisis de las transformaciones que se producen en la administración pública española de la segunda mitad de la decimoctava centuria.

In the XVIII century, one hundred and eleven professors held the Chairs of Canon Law and Civil Law at the University of Valladolid. Thirty-four of them, slightly over a 30% of the total number, were working at the same time as lawyers for the Royal Chancellery. Professionals and professors appears a leading group in the social evolution of the elite in the last part of the Ancien Regime. They are professionals occasionally connected with the public administration, generally to the Colleges and more related to the University tau their predecessors. From these considerations, we will analyse the transformations which occur in the Spanish public administration during the second half of the XVIII century.
