Litigio por el material de Bolonia para las murallas de vendaval de Cádiz a finales del siglo XVIII

    Resumen: A finales del siglo XVIII la ciudad de Cádiz estaba inmersa en la construcción de sus murallas de Vendaval. Para ello, la Junta de Fortificaciones contrató a proveedores para que consiguieran el material necesario para tan ingente obra. Uno de ellos, Manuel Cano, envió personal a Bolonia para extraer piedras, cales y leñas para la citada construcción.El Cabildo tarifeño, al tener noticia de ello, y observando que hacían acopio de todo el material que necesitaban, sin pedir permiso ni pagar por ello a las arcas municipales, solicitaron (merced a tener concedido el pueblo de Tarifa, desde los Privilegios de Sancho IV el Bravo, la propiedad y disfrute de todo el término), que le fuera retribuido en su justo precio los materiales que extrajeran del término municipal tarifeño.A partir de estos hechos, se solicitaron una serie de peticiones a las autoridades competentes: el asentista, solicitando que le fuera permitido extraer los materiales sin coste alguno, alegando que estaban destinados a una obra de interés público; y el Cabildo de Tarifa, solicitando que le fuera retribuidos.

    At the end of the 18th century the city of Cádiz was immersed in the construction of its walls of Vendaval. For this reason, Council of Fortifications hired contractors to get the necessary material for such a huge work. Manuel Cano, one of these contractors, sent staff to Bolonia to extract stones, limes and firewood for the construction. The town of Tarifa had granted the property and benefit sharing for the whole municipal term, thanks to the agreements and Privileges granted by Sancho IV, the Brave. Upon hearing of the extration of resources and noting that they collected all the material without asking for permission or paying for it to the municipal coffers, the Cabildo Tarifeño requested to be repaid at a fair price.From these facts, a series of petitions was established to the competent authorities: the   assientist, requesting to be allowed to extract the materials without cost and alleging that they were intended to a public work; and the Cabildo de Tarifa, requesting to be compensated.
