    Suprimida como parroquia en el siglo XIX y saqueada durante la Guerra Civil Española de 1936, la antigua iglesia parroquial de San Lorenzo de Úbeda (Jaén) inició un imparable proceso de deterioro que amenazó incluso con arruinar totalmente la fábrica. Gracias a la intervención privada de la Fundación Huerta de San Antonio, dicha decadencia se ha frenado y se han iniciado tareas de consolidación del templo. Como elemento clave en el proceso de recuperación del inmueble cabría citar la implantación del modelo Abierto por obras, que ha supuesto la revitalización del entorno desde varios puntos de vista (especialmente el cultural, sin olvidar el ámbito educativo, el turístico o incluso el económico). De este modo, la antigua iglesia de San Lorenzo se ha convertido en un referente en la provincia de Jaén en cuanto al modo de aprovechar al máximo los recursos que puede ofrecer nuestro rico patrimonio histórico-artístico.

    Suppressed as a parish in the 19th Century and plundered during the Spanish Civil War in 1936, the Church of Saint Lawrence of Úbeda (Jaén) started an unstoppable process of deterioration which threatened even with completely ruin of the factory. Thanks to the intervention of the private foundation Huerta de San Antonio it has stopped that deterioration, and getting started the recovering of the temple. As key element in the process of recovery of the building might quote the implementation of the model 'Open by restoration’, that has revitalized the surrounding from several points of view (especially the cultural, without forget the educational field, the tourist or even the economic). In this way, the old parish Church of Saint Lawrence has become a reference in the province of Jaen how take advantage of resources that can offer our rich historical and artistic heritage.
