El recorrido de la obra del pintor sevillano, Manuel García Rodríguez, que ilustra la portada de esta revista, realizada en 1917 para el presbítero de origen nazareno, Juan Luis de Cózar y Lázaro, paso por diferentes vicisitudes a la muerte de este en 1927. El contexto de su ejecución, y su relevancia por el significado artístico de su autor, y por constituir uno de los primeros lienzos que se conservan de la Santísima Virgen del Rocío, le dan un valor estimable para la historio¬grafía rociera. En este artículo acreditamos como llega a ser propiedad de la hermandad de Nuestra Señora del Rocío de Dos Hermanas, su propietaria actual.
The career of the Sevillian painter Manuel García Rodríguez passed through various vicissitudes until his death in 1927. The painting which dons the cover of this magazine was painted in 1917 for the Nazarene priest Juan Luis de Cózar y Lázaro. Due to the context in which the painting was executed, its relevance to the artistic significance of the author, and for constituting one of the first canvases of the Holiest Virgin of the Rocío that is still preserved, it is priceless to Rocían historiography. In this article we confirm how this painting came to be property of the brotherhood of Our Lady of Rocío, Dos Hermanas*, its current owner.
