    La Revista de Estudios Extremeños, cuyo nonagésimo aniversario se celebra el presente año 2017, es, desde su fundación en 1927, testigo, cronista y referente insoslayable de la historia de Badajoz y de Extremadura, como órgano en cuyas páginas, abiertas a toda clase de opiniones, han publicado sus estudios los más relevantes investigadores y escritores de todas las disciplinas humanísticas y científicas, referentes a las realidades pretéritas y contemporá- nea de la región.

    El presente trabajo, considerando como vidas paralelas durante este periodo las de Badajoz y la REE, ofrece una visión de la evolución experimentada en ese tiempo por la ciudad en los aspectos constructivos y urbanísticos;

    demográficos y poblacionales; económicos y sociales; artísticos y culturales;

    de usos y costumbres; vida cotidiana, y otros, y su relación con la dimensión y propósitos de la revista

    The Revista de Estudios Extremeños (Journal of Studies of Extremadura) celebrates it ninetieth anniversary in 2017 and has, since its foundation in 1927, been a witness, chronicler and irrefutable referent of the history of Badajoz and Extremadura. It has been an instrument with pages open to all kind of opinions where the most relevant researchers and writers of all humanistic and scientific disciplines have published their studies on the past and contemporary realities of the region.

    The present work considers the lives of Badajoz and the REE as being parallel during this period and offers a vision of the city’s evolution on aspects such as construction and urbanism, demography and population, economic and social issues, artistic and cultural activities, customs and traditions, daily life and others, as well as their relation with the aims and purposes of the magazine which, by taking the pulse of its history.
