Este artículo ofrece un estudio de aquellos cuentos de Ewing Campbell de su colección Afoot in the Garden of Enchantments (2007) cuya acción se desarrolla en Canarias (cuatro en Tenerife y uno en Fuerteventura). Tras comentar la estructura general de la colección y el estilo del autor, el análisis se centra en destacar los elementos distintivos de la poética de Campbell, así como el tratamiento del espacio narrativo en cada uno de ellos, con especial atención a «Flint and Cochineal», cuya traducción al castellano se añade como anexo documental.
This article attempts a study of Ewing Campbell’s short stories of his collection Afoot in the Garden of Enchantments (2007) set in the Canary Islands (four in Tenerife and one in Fuerteventura). After an introduction about the general structure of the collection and the style of the author, the analysis will explore the distinctive elements of his poetics and the presentation of Canary Islands as narrative space in each one of them, with special attention to «Flint and Cochineal». A translation into Spanish of this tale is added as ‘Anexo documental’.
