  El artículo trata de reconstruir a través de diversas fuentes tanto impresas como manuscritas el papel desempeñado por la llamada Legión Auxiliar Británica durante la Primera Guerra Carlista.

  Un papel verdaderamente controvertido pero esencial para comprender, gracias a la actividad de dichos hombres en el sitio de San Sebastián en 1835, la reestructuración diplomática y política de Europa occidental (Portugal, Francia, España, Gran Bretaña...) tras el ciclo de las guerras revolucionarias y napoleónicas y la restauración, casi general, aunque en diferentes grados, de regímenes absolutistas tras la campaña de Waterloo y el cierre del Congreso de Viena

  Using various printed as well as hand-written sources, this paper endeavours to reconstruct the role played by so-called Auxiliary British Legion during the First Carlist War (1833-1839) It was a truly controversial but essential role to understand, thanks to the activity of these men during the siege of San Sebastian in 1835, the diplomatic and pollitical restructuring of Western Europe (Portugal, France, Spain, Great Britain, etc.) following the cycle of revolutionary and Napoleonic wars and the restoration nearly everywhere, although to varying degrees, of absolutist regimes following the Waterloo campaign and the conclusion of the Congres of Vienna
